The San Diego Housing Commission (SDHC) re-examines the income and family composition of households that receive federal rental assistance to ensure continued eligibility.
Households that receive Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher rental assistance are required to remain in good standing to continue to receive assistance.
“Good standing” means following all program rules and fulfilling family rights and responsibilities. These include, but are not limited to:
- Paying rent on time
- Complying with additional lease requirements
- Reporting changes to household and/or income in the required timeframe
- Completing and returning recertification documents on time
- Ensuring that the rental unit passes inspection
SDHC Achievement Academy
Families that receive federal rental assistance from SDHC or reside in public housing units have opportunities to become more financially self-reliant through the programs of the SDHC Achievement Academy, a learning and resource center and computer lab located at SDHC’s headquarters.
