Khadija Basir

 

Khadija Basir knows first-hand how affordable housing programs can change lives. As a participant of the San Diego Housing Commission’s Rental Assistance and Family Self-Sufficiency programs, Basir has paved a road to a promising future for herself and young son. In her capacity as a commissioner, she strives to help others do the same.

 

Basir was appointed to the Housing Commission Board by Mayor Jerry Sanders in November 2006.

 

She is currently employed as a senior human resources specialist at the San Diego based Marine Corps Depot. Her previous work experience includes serving in human resources and administrative capacities for various county, state and military organizations. Additionally, she worked as a graduate student worker/housing program analyst for the County of San Diego Regional Task for the Homeless.

 

She earned a master’s degree in public administration and bachelor of science degree in business administration/management from San Diego State University.

 

Prior to completing her education, Basir served in the United States Navy as a specialist/radioman third class on board the USS Samuel Gompers.

 

Basir’s volunteer activities include contributing her time and talents to a professional women’s support group (Business Women of Vision) and the San Diego State University Alumni Association
