Allen Sims

Over three decades, Allen Sims dedicated his time to professional careers in the military, real estate and criminology fields. Now semi-retired, he has turned his attention to public service. 

Sims was appointed to the SDHC Board of Commissioners by Mayor Jerry Sanders in 2008.  

In early adulthood, Sims served in the U.S. Army as a military police provost officer/ investigator. He later became a nuclear security officer at the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, where he was employed for nearly 20 years. He has also worked as a real estate broker. 

Sims is a part-time usher for the Balboa Theatre and the San Diego Civic Theatre. He has volunteered for Balboa Park, Lyceum and Spreckels theaters and is a member of the San Diego Scottish Rite Masonic Fraternity.  

He holds an associates degree in business and psychology from Pasadena City College. He earned a real estate broker license from Saddleback City College. 

Sims is a resident of SDHC’s Belden Village, an affordable housing community serving low-income seniors and persons with disabilities.
